bring your fine
feathered gowns
and silk print
tresses.
Gentlemen,
your straw tipped hats
blackberry ties,
and ink coloured
breeches.
For you are all
a welcome bud
in a mansion garden,
and the opening
today begins freely.

Great one! It matches the picture beautifully.
I like the thought of visitors and us being buds in a "mansion garden." Rich |

A beautifully hand crafted invitation to the perfect venue is always imposible to refuse, especially one where such good and spirited intellectual company is
to be found.
Enjoyed very much Matt. |

Sarah, you're most welcome. It was just the 'feel' I got from the picture
as if it was offering out an invitation. |

It would be a perfect banner poem, but it is too long for the scroller,
and the verses are so perfectly meshed that to separate one from the others would destroy the impact. It is the perfect promotion for this forum though...to have an admission ticket!!! |

That's okay, Sarah. I didn't really write it for anything, I'm just
used to writing to compliment pictures. Although I suppose you could just use the last part as that sums up the poem really, the first two stanzas are just a preamble. Or re-title the poem " An invitation" etc Admission ticket For you are all a welcome bud in a mansion garden, and the opening today begins freely. - Thanks everyone for reading. |

I keep thinking of Charlie and the chocolate factory and his golden ticket except
