An oldie posted in honour of International Women's Day
am woman hear me roar”
The slogan's too loud to ignore;
Listen world we have a voice,
We’re entitled to a choice.
And though I roar with all the rest
It’s really not what I do best.
For I fear there's no denying
I can still hear others crying,
And I must still the roar inside,
Let my conscience be my guide;
Lead me to where I belong,
As gentle lamb or lion strong;
Crusader for the current need,
Comforter to those who bleed.
Daughter, sister,mother, wife,
So many roles in one short life:
But I am woman, let me be
All the things that make me 'me'.
Let me roar, and let me weep,
Forget to look before I leap;
my strength be known to all,
Help me up whene’er I fall.
Let me be a friend indeed,
To any friend who is in need;
Let all who love me understand,
The principles for which I stand,
And even when they disagree,
Let their love still enfold me.
