Her breathing quickened quietly beneath the moon's returning light,
And round her feet there swirled and drifted every lesson she would learn
For soon her snow-white flesh would wonder why the evening shadows burn,
Then from the speckled jet black sky so far above her star spun face
There came to her from yesterday, a quiet song through silver lace,
And suddenly emotions danced like Autumn gold in wind swept play
Beneath night's viscous velvet veils they lingered, then they ran away.
And as her senses subtly crept into the twisted velvet air
She felt the curious gentle touch of something waiting for her there,
Though statuesque she stood within her fervent curiosity
She felt the strange excitement of a vision that is soon to be,
As round each cobweb lane she drifted, sylph like on the evening's flow
Until she came upon him waiting, arms outstretched and eyes aglow,
Without a thought she reached for him, he took her arm and spun her round
To fly off through eternity on carpets of enchanted sound.
They danced through halls of sculpted incense, fragrant as a Summer's day
Then waltzed along a golden beach that ribbon laced a sunlit bay,
While all around them music echoed fragments of forever's song
That made them sing the praises of a jewelled night so deep and long,
Until finally the music faded to the distant depths of shade
Their smiles were cast into a coloured hat, the minstrel was well paid,
And she walked with him back to his cobwebbed corner, bidding him farewell
Then she hurried on to where she lay in bed before the morning's final bell…
